All very good tips! I was on a journaling streak in late 2023/early 2024 and I’d like to get back to that because I do think it helps clarify all the swirling thoughts in my mind. I learned a tip from Mel Robbins about taking a ten minute silent walk and I really think that helps to declutter the overstimulated mind — though it can be hard to resist the temptation to put on a podcast or audiobook.
Yesss I do silent walks too! It's immensely helpful. Also, I'm usually walking my dogs so they provide just enough stimulation to help me relax into the walk a little.
There are some really interesting tips here. I was diagnosed with ADD (no H) in my 40s and right now I'm sitting reading this completely exhausted from constant stimulation and trying too hard for the past few months.
Hey Sky, I can relate. I have this profile as well, and it can feel very lonely and disconnected. I hope you can find some connection and community here.
Thank you, this makes so much sense. And so validating to read about all the different types of rest I have been intuitively giving myself while feeling guilty and confused about my inability to just do nothing.
Amazing how long it took me to figure out what rest "is" and not to just see it as lazy or weak. This is a great reference point for ideas or inspiration - thank you :)
Thanks for this! I’m PDA not ADHD personally, but I’ve been feeling like I never really figured out how to recharge effectively, so I appreciate having some specific ideas.
I’m interested in how you have helped people schedule their rest or integrate them into life. I can easily forget and then add four different rest types to my routine and then become overwhelmed— like your post about schedule planning and then burning out of energy to do it.
I'm PDA AuDHD sensory seeker in burnout having experienced complex trauma over the past 5 years. It's a hellish place to be and no one understands.

Journaling what you wrote, as we speak, so I can rest
I have a four year wait to be assessed for ADHD. I’m 34 years old and only realised I may have ADHD in the last year. Thank you for these tips :)
Oof, a four-year wait is so tough, I'm so sorry. Hopefully you can still find some support for it in the meantime <3

Thank you for that TT💜Going to use that one daily!
So glad it's helpful!! <3

don’t have the energy to read this, going to run 8 miles instead
… (my ADHD’s go-to form of relaxing 😭)

This is so useful - and validating! Thank you! 🙏🏻
This is such a helpful list of suggestions! And a good reminder to have a menu of available rest options that are not phone-scrolling!
I'm so glad!! <3
This is so helpful, thank you so much 🫶🏻
I'm so glad you find it helpful!! <3
The concept of sensory rest is new to me but makes so much sense! I definitely need and crave it regularly.
